In September 2020 Covid restrictions allowed Kidderminster Choral Society to meet in a socially distanced and Covid-safe manner, using Kidderminster Town Hall as a safe rehearsal venue, with screens between each singer and wearing face visors. These restrictions didn’t put off those who were determined to sing. Whilst rather reduced in number, the singers made up for this with the enthusiasm to sing together.
During this time – with a break for the November lockdown, the choir rehearsed, led by Musical Director, Geoff Weaver and Accompanist, Mike Elden. Unable to give a live audience concert they performed Faure’s Requiem for a recording and made a CD. This was a unique experience, with the whole of Kidderminster Town Hall turned into a recording studio for the day. The CD is a great record of achievement; during such a difficult time and allowed members, friends and family to share their singing, along with the wider community. The CD is available to purchase through this website.
