In Memory of Harry Bramma

Kidderminster Choral Society is saddened to learn of the passing of
Harry Bramma, who died at the weekend, just short of his 90th birthday.

Harry was Musical Director of the Society from 1972 to 1979, conducting
15 concerts during his tenure. He joined KCS from The King’s School,
Worcester, where he was Director of Music, having also served as
Assistant Organist and Master of Choristers at Worcester Cathedral.

Harry led the Society through a significant period of change and
development, during which the number of singers doubled. He also
introduced the Society’s first carol concert. On his departure, the
Society’s Chairman paid tribute to his “fine musicianship, along with a
good sense of humour, youthful zest and unfailing good temper”, adding
that the Society had benefited greatly from his knowledge in the choice
of music, soloists and players.

During his time with the Society, Harry also made many good friends, a
number of whom are still members and remember him with great
affection.

Following his time with Kidderminster Choral Society, Harry was
appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers at Southwark
Cathedral, continuing a distinguished career in cathedral music.

We extend our sincere condolences to Harry’s family and all those who
knew him. He will be remembered with great affection and gratitude by
Kidderminster Choral Society.
