Our Story…
Primary Chords is a choir for children aged 5-10, open to all children in the Wyre Forest and surrounding area. This is the youngest choir under the umbrella organisation of Kidderminster Choral Society and was founded in 2001.
Led by professional musicians, Carol Hill (Musical Director) and Rachel Dickenson (Accompanist), it currently has 21 members but new members are always welcome. We aim to have fun and build friendships whilst singing to as high a standard as possible.
We sing a wide range of songs, including rounds, songs from around the world and songs from stage and screen.
Rehearsals
Weekly rehearsals include musical games and vocal warm-ups, singing in unison and in 2 or 3 part harmony, playing instruments such as boomwhackers, kazoos, drums, sticks and chime bars.
Performances
We perform 4 times a year- in joint concerts with Wyre Forest Young Voices, with all 3 choirs in the Kidderminster Choral Society Family at Christmas, and put on our own concert every Summer.
Aims and Aspirations
Our aim is for choir members to learn about teamwork, and gain in confidence whilst performing in front of an audience as well as learning how to sing beautifully and how music making can move us and enable us to express ourselves in ways that words cannot.
